For me, for born-again Christians and for our members of the prayer group, Jesus Christ is the Word of God and also God himself, for the prophet Isaiah says this:
~~ Isaiah 9:5 ~~
"For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; and the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Since Jesus' words and example are our authority, we have noticed from the Bible that the baptism of believers occurs of the person being baptized's own will after hearing the word and giving a personal testimony of faith.
We have followed the Bible's instructions and have been baptized as believers --- There is an excellent passage in the Bible about believers' baptism (Acts 8:36,37and 38), where Philip, at the urging of an angel of the Lord, goes to a deserted road that leads down from Jerusalem to Gaza. On the road, Philip, guided by the Spirit, meets the courtier of Candace, queen of Ethiopia, who is reading the book of the prophet Isaiah. Philip told the courtier what the passage of the book of Isaiah that the courtier was reading meant. After this, the story continues in the Bible like this: "And as they went along the road, they came unto some water; and the eunuch said, See, here is water: what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, let it be. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
In the previous story, there was no obstacle to baptism because the eunuch believed and confessed with his mouth. So Philip baptized him.
May Jesus guide and bless you in your deep knowledge of the Word of the Bible, and in your baptism of believers!
